This lightweight 52’ (16m) racing yacht was produced in carbon fibre epoxy composite by the CSC Composites Company, Istanbul, Turkey. The boat was designed by its owner Gurhan Tuker and CSC Ltd and is aimed at the handicapped (IRC) racing market. So good is the boat that the prototype came 3rd in its very first race, the prestigious 2012 Turkish Navy Cup. The boat was captained by the owner and the crewed by amateur sailors. Construction Details:
The hull and deck are sandwich construction with multi-layers of 200, 300 and 400 gsm carbon UD tapes in different orientations. The foam core is a mix of 80 and 130 kg/m³ desnity, 25mm thick. The structure was resin infused using Sika Biresin CR83, epoxy resin system. This resin was designed specifically to have very low viscosity to allow fast impregnation and good wetting properties. Biresin CR83 is Germanische Lloyds approved and exhibits low tendency to crystallise.
